long weekends (and sembreaks!) are love...
Well, sometimes. Going back to the real world can be a shock, but it's all good still. Work and school's interesting as well. My long weekend was a break, so I'm looking forward to the next long weekend. This workweek is pretty much a "Monday-Friday" feeling since it's only two days.

Friday was Halloween at work, so I didn't get much work done. Hehe. Then dinner afterwards at TOSH and a slight traumatic thing for me (and possibly, P) that has caused me to drive slower than usual and not pass a certain way going home (truly!). Anyway, I learned a lot last Friday night. Good thing my family and friends were all supportive and helpful. And because of that, I slept in the whole Saturday. Hehe wah.

Sunday was with my college friends. It was Chesca's first birthday at Pancake. Nice to catch up with Anch and Tet (I missed everyone else, but I'm glad Gwennie's here already!). Hee. I miss catching up with them. Glad for the opportunity, plus getting to see my godchildren. They're so big already, especially Marco! Cutie! :)

Monday saw me in Starbucks working on our homework. Hee my groupmates and I agree our Stat group is our favorite group. We spend always spend at least four hours (longest was ten hours) together, working on our killer homework. Even if we're exhausted with the workload, we always end up bugging each other and it's not as stressful. We always say we're overbonded. Not to mention, all the baristas know us, I think, as we camp out there for hours. I'm going to miss them next term. :(

friday madness!
The past two Fridays have been fun! Last Friday, during our lunch break, we headed off for lunch at Tokyo Tokyo (thanks to Karina's BPI promo) and then Power Station! While Crissy, Karina, Mity and Sol hit the games, Malor and I joined Migs doing videoke. Rather, we watched Migs do videoke. Hehe. Then we had a Neoprint done. What is high school and college?! Kulit.

Yesterday, it was AloHalloween! Actually, it was our office's annual trick or treat for the employee's kids... and my first Halloween! Every year, I always plot my vacation leave around this time, but this year... well. Anyway, our unit's theme was the beach (or Boracay as the other units called it) and it was so fun to dress up our office and ourselves! I don't think I got much work done yesterday with all the people and kids going in and out our floor so my friends and I decided to go around the different floors. Wow, talk about going all out with the other floors! They really went to town with their scary haunted houses or mental hospitals. Yup, I don't think they got much work done yesterday either as I didn't receive any e-mail the whole afternoon and the other business units were too busy acting out their scary themes!

Check out Pooh Bear:

And here we are under the sun!

Thanks to Karina for the pics!

After reading Tessa's entry regarding Friday's bombing and hearing a terrible and sad story about a former officemate who was one of the casualties in the blast, I really felt horrible. Last Friday was one of the most fun lunch breaks and getting back to the office, we heard there was a bombing in Glorietta. Such a scary, sad and unfair occurrence.

That area is where we usually go to (the Bayo area, Gwennie and I usually pop over Luk Yuen before we part ways whenever we meet up, we usually park in Park Square 2). It's scary to think that an idle day in the mall can turn out to be so traumatic and disastrous. I work and live far from Makati, but I usually go to Glorietta and I'm quite familiar with it. I feel bad knowing we're not safe again and that there's no way to stop these people and their motives. :(

dogdog
dogdog,
originally uploaded by monchers.
Thanks (or no thanks - hehe, I've been starting my entries this way already) to GMA 7's Marimar Dogdog is getting to be called/known as Fulgoso! Today, my dad brought Dogdog to the vet and when they got out, a tricycle driver called out to Dog, "Fulgoso, nasan si Marimar?!" Of course, Dogdog went up to him. Then we learned from Manang that some of our neighbors, when they pass by and see Dog in our yard, they call him Fulgoso also. Hmm, Dog might start to think his name is Fulgoso and not Dogdog. Anyway, showbiz dog! Looks like Dogdog has a future in showbiz... if only he has manners! :)

sunday afternoons
sunday afternoons,
originally uploaded by monchers.
Sunday afternoons, you can usually find me in Starbucks, with a bunch of similarly stressed busy students, with our noses buried in books, punching out numbers in the calculator or poring over something in someone's laptop. For the past eight weekends, with all the killer homework and extremely demanding work schedules, Sunday is the only free day, and afternoon to evening is the only time that can be allotted after family and other obligations.

My groupmates and I like to meet in Starbucks. I guess it's because they don't really mind anyone staying there for such a long period of time, as long as we patronize their store. And we do! We buy coffee, pastries or sandwiches, water, internet access and so on. I've tried all their sandwiches to tide me over, my favorite being the Tuna Kani on Rye. :)

I know it can be such a hassle - some other classmates have actually found it funny that we meet on Sundays, but we have such a good time! We end up talking about the most random stuff and bond over the silliest things. I've learned a lot from my groupmates - more than Stat or whatever school thing. Now that the term's ending, I'm going to miss this.

Thanks (or no thanks) to my Stat groupmates, I got to see this Korean group Kiss' video of the song Because I'm A Girl and waaah! It got to the sentimental side of me which I never thought still existed. Great, I cried a bit when I saw it. Sigh. I think I'm still really a romantic at heart even if I say I'm not and try to remain as dry and unemo.

Gaaah can I just be two persons tomorrow?!

One to go to work and stay at work 'til who knows when and then another to go to school, take the exam and attend the group meeting. Ucch I forgot, can I be three pala? I need one me to attend the orientation and another me to stay and work on cases. And another me to research for our presentation on Monday. How many mes are there already? I just need to divide myself up or something. Wah.

The most feasible solution is to manage my time well tomorrow. Yeah right. I keep saying that everyday and somehow, it just doesn't work out.

I told Tessa I like being busy (= stressed?) and she agreed with me - it does take our minds off things that we don't need to think about. I mean, better to be productive and harassed over important, career-related things. So yes, even if my hair is frizzing due to stress, my eyes are always tired and I'm cranky and/or near tears almost all the time, it's okay. I really like and appreciate the "busy-ness" of life right now and I'm taking each stressful thing as it comes. I feel like I've wasted so much lately that I'm trying to redeem myself and try to figure out this weird "missing" feeling that I have.

I forgot that my blog turned five last month! I can't quite believe I actually kept this blog for five years. I mean, I've kept paper journals since I was a kid, but I wasn't sure how long I'd keep on blogging. Five years, hmm. I don't think I've grown or changed so much, but it's a nice surprise to read my old entries and realize how I was years ago.

Steady stuff that's kept me sane the past weeks (stress!):
Avenue Q!
Pampam days with my friends - super relaxing!
Coffee! I need it to function every single day.
Kulitan with my Stat groupmates. I swear, nine hours in Starbucks for our killer homework?! How fun. :)
Chance meetings with friends at the most random places (ie, Mel and Pat at Bo's Katipunan, Tetty and family at Hotshots in Glorietta)

Friday's Feast 162

Appetizer
How are you today?
I'm fine, thank you.

Well, actually it depends on the day you ask me. Like if you ask me on a Monday or Tuesday, I'd probably be near tears because I'd be so stressed with work and school. Wednesdays, Thursdays, I'm pretty steady because my heavy class is over and the weekend's approaching! It all depends on that.

Soup
Name 3 television shows you watch on a regular basis.
Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and Friends (reruns on ETC and Star World). I miss these shows!

Salad
What’s the scariest weather situation you’ve experienced?
I don't remember the typhoons when I was a kid, but I do remember the brownout days and we still had to go to school! Imagine having classes in the dark and cold. But in recent memory, I'd have to say Milenyo last September 2006. Crissy and I were the only two CTG girls logged that day and it was super scary with all the wind and rain! Then there was a blackout, everything, including phone lines were down... it was scary, but fun. We watched how a lamp post almost fell on Ate She's car, but she and Robin braved the rain to move her card. We just hung out in the office and didn't go home until the afternoon (to get holiday pay). :) Management even ordered KFC for all of us who stayed.

We were lucky that we got electricity the next day, in some areas, it took a week and a lot of people had to check in hotels or serviced apartments.

Main Course
If you could wake up tomorrow morning in another country, where would you want to be?
France (always wanted to go there), Thailand (I love that place).

Dessert
What do you usually wear to sleep?
Shorts and t-shirt. Sometimes a sweater and pj's if it's cold.
