Another song I like. :)

I'm ridiculously addicted to so many things right now. I don't really find it funny anymore. Wah.
1. Uraro cookies - To me, they taste like pulvoron, only harder and not as messy to eat. When I'm peckish in the morning and I don't eat breakfast, I eat that. 2. The Pot - Chocolates in a tin can my dad brought from Germany. When I first tried them, I didn't like the dark chocolate taste - it was bitter, but more because I think it's made of cocoa? Anyway, after six (or so) of these chocolates, I'm addicted! Too bad (or maybe not) my dad only bought one small can. 3. Nescafe Instant Coffee. Grr. 4. Non food: Julianne's Tulak ng Bibig and Sino Sikat's Turning my Safety off.Labels: favorites

Well, thanks to Amity (she invited me to go), I was able to drop by school today for a talk on graduate studies. Talk about how much I missed school - if you can believe it - and how so much has changed! It felt so weird walking along the ledge (something I dreaded as a freshman), knowing I didn't really belong there anymore - unlike before, my friends and I would dominate the ledge. Okay, so we were eight and we pretty much took up space. Grabe, parang it didn't really feel like the place I spent so much time in a few years ago.
Our meeting place was at the chapel and I was super overwhelmed to be back there. As in, I sat in a pew, smiled and was like, "God, it feels so good to be here." I swear it did. When I was still in school, I used to read for the Mass in the morning, complete with the skirt and all. :) I also visited the chapel frequently, with my fervent prayers about school work and life. School was a happy daze kind of time for me, and yet I remember, I still had a lot of problems. I'm amazed I got out somewhat unscathed (I sincerely like to think so, anyway). Today, it felt so nice being there. I missed the stillness there that often quieted my restless self way back then.
The talk was held in the sosy building, at the fifth floor, which we all considered had the best classrooms. I really felt like a grad student there, in my business attire, attending classes at night with classrooms that looked more like boardrooms. The hall where the talk was held brought back memories of taking (ugh) departmental exams, complete with those uncomfortable green armchairs with an unstable desk - never changed. I think I got a painful back with the hours spent hunched over exams and notes. I told Amity, "I feel like we need our pencils and yellow pad for Accounting." Truly, some emotions stay the same. Hehe. Still cold air conditioning as ever! And the speaker was, well, our sophomore Economics common lec speaker. Brought back memories of common lec (these were usually memories of shrinking down in my seat once the speaker did a roll call of those who were "lucky" enough to answer his questions, which were not easy. I never liked Eco). It was a very informative talk - I actually missed the dynamic environment of a school. Hmm. Made me think and think again what I really want to do. Go for the academic life? Good to see some of our teachers and staff. I was happy that our Intro Man teacher still remembered us and she chatted us up about school, our exchange student who lived in her unit (I had forgotten our group worked there before!) and she invited us to pop over to chat longer if we had the time before she left again. Saw also our former HR teacher and other alum from the school who now work there. Strange how everything went full circle for some. Other random (and really shallow) stuff while visiting school:
1. I drove to school and saw that there were cars lined up along the entrance to the parking lot. Odd, I thought, but they're not going in? There's so much parking. Silly me, I had to ask the guard if I could go in. He gave me a strange look and waved me in. Apparently, they were drivers just waiting for their passengers. Ngek. 2. The car I was using still has school year 2003-2004 sticker which says, "student". Parking attendant asked me, "Ma'am, staff ba kayo?" while gesturing to the sticker. "Ay hindi po, alumni po." Then he issued me a ticket. What if I said staff ako? Paano kaya yun? 3. I forgot how unpaved the parking lot in school is. Bad idea to wear kitty heels and park a tad far from the entrance. Uccch. No wonder I wore flats a lot in college. 4. Love the washrooms pa rin. It's still really, really nice. 5. So many boards all over school already! Each school/institute has one. 6. Ooh the ledge, still the same. :) Darn, wasn't able to take a picture. I got shy all of a sudden and ended up taking stolen shots. Hee. 7. I can't comment on the old building because I didn't have any business going there, but it would've been interesting to see the changes there. 8. Or the Caf! I wanted to see what's there and the food! 9. I can't believe I forgot what floor our Graduate Management Staff Office (naks) was on! Too bad I didn't have time to visit it. Neither were we able to visit the faculty. Labels: memories, random, rant-rave

I like this song. :)
Turning My Safety Off Sino Sikat
I’m turning my safety off I’m ready to talk to you Alone
A kiss, a hug, another drink Puts me right back to Denial of persistent memory
I’m watching you Make a fool of you Over and over again
You can leave the fire open It’s not dying anyway It’s not dying anyway It’s not dying anyway
I’m turning my safety off Unclasping my guarded moments For you
Nothing here is apropos And I’m crying out to saints and sinners alike I’m giving you all the soul I’ve got Again and again and again
You can leave the fire open It’s not dying anyway It’s not dying anyway It’s not dying anyway
You can leave the memory open It’s not dying anyway It’s not dying anyway It’s not dying anyway
I’m turning my safety off I’m ready to fall in love with you Over & over & over again

Friday 5: Condiments
1. What do you like on a hot dog? Ketchup and cheese. That sounds like a Jolly Hotdog! I also like it with relish.
2. What do you like on a hamburger? Cheese, pickles, ketchup (sounds like a McDonald's cheeseburger this time). Or barbecue sauce, onion rings, cheese (I don't remember, basta it was the Ranch or whatever burger from Carl's Jr. Super sarap).
3. What do you like on a baked potato? Lots of melted cheese! And bacon bits. But I don't really like the skin...
4. What do you like on a slice of toast? Butter! Strawberry jam! Peanut Butter (I ♥ pb)!
5. What do you like in a cup of coffee or tea? Cream and sugar, plus white chocolate shavings, like in SBC's White Chocolate Mocha (although sometimes they didn't have the shavings, instead they gave me a chocolate stick. Still yummy).
Obviously, I'm hungry while doing this survey.Labels: survey

Friday's Feast One Hundred and Thirty-Four on a Saturday
Appetizer What is your usual bedtime? Do you like that, or would you rather it be different? These days, my usual bedtime is 1-2a. Hehe due to texting marathons, TV, going online, journaling and reading. I kind of like it, because my mind is pretty active late at night.
Soup When it comes to advice, do you give more or receive more? I'm embarrassed to say I receive more. I'm not unstable (oh, I hope not!), I just have very good friends and family who like to listen and give advice when I simply make kwento, even the most really boring and mundane stuff.
Salad Describe a memorable meal you've had. Top of my head, anything to do with buffets. My family likes to eat a lot, especially during special occasions. I love to go the hotel interactive buffets because of the extensive choices, especially when it comes to dessert!
Main Course Name a work of fiction that affected the way you think about something. Definitely Paolo Coelho's The Alchemist. I read it when I graduated from college and cried very hard - in fact, I can't read it without crying. Made me think of what going after one's dreams meant, but in this life, I wonder how that would work out. Okay, that's another story.
Dessert What is your favorite type of fruit juice? Only apple juice. Not really a juice person, we hardly had juice at home.
* * * Practically the whole day yesterday I spent hanging out (okay, that's a weird word to use in context to describe but it's true) at Patty's dad's wake in Della Strada. It was good to see P okay - I'm not quite sure usually how to act towards people in funerals or wakes, mainly because... I don't quite know how to handle grief.
And good thing P noticed that since we got into talking about how surreal this whole experience was for her and yet she's okay since we talked about our normal stuff, punctuated with laughter and weird stuff. Anyway, we talked about how, is this our dry and unemotional side that's on right now? Since we've conditioned ourselves to be stoic almost always, was this being really insensitive right now? Because sometimes, emotion hits us at the most unexpected times and places. It was good to see she understood my point, since I had been feeling awkward. I don't know, I guess I really don't know how to express my sympathy except by being there. Which, I hope, counted.
* * * On a lighter note, spending the whole day at the wake was interesting. We spent it eating! Lunch with a dessert of strawberries and cream (yummy, even if I'm not a strawberry fan! Loved the cream), coffee (omg, I have a new discovery: Nescafe 3-in-1! I like. P told me Val's favorite instant coffee is KDO. Hmm, must try. Yes, I still, still miss coffee) and taisan cupcake, this kuapao, the best siomais I've tried from Forbes, Krispy Kreme chocolate doughnut (sorely tempted to get the Cheesecake one, but I got shy), cold but still delicious Red Ribbon spaghetti, homemade chicken sandwiches (how do they get their white bread to taste like that?) and endless Coke. Wahh... so full. It was so fun when the people from the office came and we just spent the whole time eating, talking and laughing. Oh, and bonding with people I didn't quite expect to chat with, but it was all good.
P and I walked around Della Strada too. I've only attended Mass there once and I think it was a funeral mass pa ages ago so I don't remember it much. I arrived early so I looked for the Adoration Chapel. Then in the afternoon P showed me a small chapel (room?) below the main church that they like. Simple and pretty.

Yesterday Early this morning, it was the first time I was the "school bus"! No one aside from my family and some really, really good friends whom I can trust (or trust me and my driving skills, that is) have ridden with me. People hardly ride with me because my house is very far, I don't always have a car, my friends live in the opposite direction or sometimes I just park somewhere and ride with other people. Last night, though, all the east people didn't have rides going home so I offered. Hah. I had to apologize first - my driving skills aren't all that hot (haller, what's a three point turn. Kidding, but it's something I can't quite master), but I somehow managed to bring Jowenn, Sly and Patrich (well he got off at Jowenn's village gate) home safely. Also had to apologize because my McDonald's drive through breakfast remains were still in the car (ooh another driving sin). Hehe.Labels: friends, life, survey

There has to be something said for feeling a little bit giddy upon finding one's ex-crushes (as in way back Grade 7 yet) pictures online.
Ahehe. I was momentarily transported back to being a teenybopper.
So funny and strange at the same time.Labels: random
