Notes from a backpacking trip:
  • Thank goodness for long weekends!
  • ...And budget flights!
  • 630a flight - stress all over as coming from a looong day at work + dad's birthday + rainy day traffic.
  • Terminal 3 is... empty of shops but full of people. And the idea of going back and forth to pay for the travel tax and what have you is annoying.
  • Waiting for the flight was not that long...
  • Sleeping through the flight... zzzzz...
  • Wow budget terminal, feel the difference :P
  • Hostel (pensionne as my dad calls it) life with shared bathrooms, surprising things you find in the hallway every morning, clean as you go, different cultures all under one roof
  • Zoo with the poor polar bear, penguins, meerkats, gee-ra-fees, underwater ballerinas!
  • Night Safari - ooh :)
  • Super walking all over the city to see it! I loved walking behind The Fullerton Hotel. :)
  • The toy store with all the Lego pieces you can buy! Wah!
  • Food trip! Hawker's Centres for stingray and noodles.
  • Luge and skybench (is that what it was called?), cable cars, Underwater World.
  • Merlion! I don't know why I am so fascinated with saying that!
  • Dhoby Ghaut interchange (in my most modulated, pang IVRS voice) - love the public transpo - very efficient.
  • No time for Edward Twilight saga as we leave the hostel early and crash in by 1am every night.
  • Ikea! Lots of stuff to buy but how to bring home...
  • Rushing to buy chocolate!
  • Beef Turkey, Chicken Coin - mmmm...
  • Chinatown!
  • Fashown! :)
  • I think we brought the rain to Sing...
  • Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Dough is love ♥
  • Plack plack plack with Malor the Local.
  • Street ice cream! :)
  • Chicken foldovers in McDonalds.
  • Bonding with old and new friends.
  • Kopi :) - which I didn't try but still.
  • Making it happen :)

I couldn't resist blogging today - it's 080808! Unintentionally keeping up with the date and "8" theme, my parking ticket registered my entry at 8:00 am and my log in at the office was at 8:08. Auspicious much? :)

Of course when I told my dad about all the 8s today, he said he wished I was home by 8:08 pm too. Hehe well, di talaga kinaya because I had nine (not eight!) cases due today!

Still up watching the Olympics Opening Ceremonies. Always a spectacular event, but oh my, the commercials. Goodness it's a lot, but I always enjoy seeing the parade of nations and whatever gimmick each host country cooks up to make each opening ceremony unique.

I finally gave in - thanks to my officemates and National Bookstore - and bought the Twilight Saga. All four books at once! Hehe I am OC like that.

I used to see the first three books regularly in National, with its own display. The black covers were always intriguing, but since they were sealed in plastic, I never got to flip through them (the back of the book doesn't say much). I always saw people buying and reading them and yes, it was a curiosity, but I had never met anyone who had read them, so I let the curiosity pass.

Enter my friends at work who had read the books and were waiting for the fourth book, Breaking Dawn, which was released only last Monday. Their excitement was (and still is) catching, so we reserved with National for a copy of Twilight. They said two weeks to wait, which was an exercise in patience, but then Natio texted last night to say our copies were available! Yay!

So now I have the four books and I'm excited to start reading. Everyone, even our super, has been raving about it so I'm very curious. It's about vampires - I never was into the vampire thing (never got into Anne Rice's Interview the Vampire and the like, and got scared with The Historian - I did like it though some parts were long winding) although I think I will enjoy this saga. :)
