I'm watching Amazing Race Asia right now - well not really. The TV is on, but I'm currently reading up on The Prestige. Great movie! I never expected the twists and after reading the forums, I think I'd like to get the book as well!

Anyway, back to AXN Amazing Race Asia. I was just curious about the two Philippine teams. Ever since The Amazing Race was on TV, my friends and I have always wanted to join the show. Being able to travel around the world, see famous sights and activities read only in books and seen on TV, provided you do last the whole race. The bonus is the million dollars at the end. But everything else in between sounds so much fun and interesting. The hassle, I guess, would be running around with huge backpacks, stress in booking flights, erratic time zones. Crazy.

So far, The Amazing Race Asia is okay. The Filipino teams are fun to watch, especially when they speak Tagalog (example, Jeena: "Sina Aubrey wala na?" while doing the Detour) and how they worked together to find the Pitstop. I found the other team (Aubrey and Jacq)... well, they really make for entertaining TV. :) Wonder how they'll fare later on in the race.

My friends and I used to discuss who we'd be partnered with. Apparently, Ate Ina and I could not be partners because we would eat everything everywhere! Hahaha! And last year, Tessa and I discovered that we couldn't be partners because we're both unfit and unbalanced, as proven in Bohol. Ahaha!

The Amazing Race dreams were brought to reality after reading the requirements so I settled with watching and living vicariously. Oh, and brought to reality also by the book Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst. Considered a satire about reality shows, the book also gives insight (I assume based on the author's research as she acknowledges former TAR contestants) on the processes behind the scenes. I mean, seriously editing plays a huge part in manipulating how close the racers are - or not, but editing also removes the boring parts like how long the actual travel is, how tedious the prcoess of having releases signed (now you know why people are blurred sometimes) and so on. Ugh. It's not as exciting as one sees on TV. Plus my back hurts just watching them run with their backpacks. And I don't think one really gets to enjoy - just a quick glimpse of everything, because they're super concerned with getting ahead.

So I'll just go back to watching TV and making sure I'll fulfill my travel dreams in some other way. :)
